HINWEIS -> Aufgrund eines Missverständnisses sind die Aktualisierungen am 13. Juni nicht geschehen, da für eine Aktualisierung noch keine Möglichkeit seitens Canonical Ltd. (Ubuntu) gegeben ist. An alle Interessierte und Nutzer der Projekte,
im September 2026 wird es zu wichtigen Aktualisierungen der Betriebssysteme unserer Infrastruktur kommen, weshalb alle Projekte und Webseiten der Vormrodian Projects mit Ausnahme von asoziierten Partnerprojekten unerreichbar sein werden. Die Dauer dieses Prozesses könnte bei Schwierigkeiten bis zu 2 Stunden dauern.

Diese Aktualisierungen sind wichtig, da die Server, auf welchem unsere Infrastruktur gehostet werden, jeweils auf dem Betriebssystem Ubuntu 24.04 LTS laufen und eine neue LTS-Version (26.04) seit April diesen Jahres existiert. Während LTS-Varianten von Betriebssystemen für längere Zeiten seitens den Herausgebern unterstützt werden, ist es bei Ubuntu so der Fall, dass Programme in den Paketrepositorien der nun älteren Version 24.04 LTS seltener aktualisiert werden. 
Dies hat in der Vergangenheit bereits zu Problemen beim Projekt Conexizan geführt, da wichtige Komponente zur Verstärkung der Sicherheit des Projekts unbemerkt veraltet blieben. In diesem Fall lief noch Ubuntu 22.04 LTS auf dem Server, den wir im Februar diesen Jahres dringlich auf 24.04 LTS aktualisiert haben.

Ubuntu ist ein Betriebssystem vom Unternehmen Canonical Ltd., dass wir in der Vergangenheit hauptsächtlich genutzt haben. Während wir für Desktops inzwischen auf nicht-profitorientierte Betriebssysteme setzen, haben wir soweit nicht vor, Ubuntu als Serversystem für unsere Organisation aufzugeben.

To all interested people and users of the projects,
in September 2026, there will be important upgrades of the operating systems of our infrastructure, due to which all of the projects and websites of the Vormrodian Projects, excluding associated partner projects, will be subject to downtimes. The duration of this process could take up to 2 hours in case of difficulties.

These upgrades are necessary, for each server, on which our infrastructure is hosted, runs on the operating system Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, while there is a new LTS version (26.04) since April of this year. Despite LTS variants of operating systems being supported for longer times by the distributors, the softwares in the case of Ubuntu are being updated less often than before in the package repositories of the now older version 24.04 LTS. 
In the past, this already led to problems on the project Conexizan, as important components for the amplification of the project's security were unnoticeably outdated. In that case, the server was still running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, which we immediately upgraded to 24.04 LTS in February of this year.

Ubuntu is an operating system by the company Canonical Ltd., which we mainly used in the past. While we now use non-profit oriented operating systems for desktops, there's no plan to give up Ubuntu as a server system for our organization.
